  1. Start a journal
  2. Give more compliments
  3. Take a social media break
  4. DIY something special
  5. Make goals, not resolutions
  6. Exercise and drink more water
  7. Be more mindful about your health
  8. Get organized
  9. Learn a new skill or find a new hobby
  10. Live life to the fullest
  11. Save more money/spend less money
  12. Read a motivational book
  13. Make time to catch up with friends and family
  14. Travel somewhere new
  15. Read more, scroll less
  16. Get a full night's sleep

NEW YEAR'S GOAL SETTING TIPS

Time to accomplish those resolutions!

  1. Write your New Year's resolutions somewhere you'll see regularly so you can review your progress and recommit on a regular bases.
  2. Create goals for different areas of your life.
  3. Create attainable and realistic goals. Make sure that any resolutions you set are ones you can accomplish in twelve months
  4. Set goals that can be measured again and again over short periods of time.
  5. Design goals that can be accomplished with a partner. You're bound to have more fun when you're working together and you won't be so tempted to give up if someone else is counting on you.
  6. Celebrate your success. Reward yourself for achieving your goals but make sure that your reward doesn't make it harder to accomplish any of your other goals.

FUN GOAL-SETTING ACTIVITIES FOR CHILDREN

TAKE A BUCKET LIST

  1. Gather your family together, grab a piece of chart paper and some markers, and start brainstorming.
  2. As a family, discuss what you would like to do, experience, and achieve over the next 12 months.
  3. Once you're done brainstorming, put the list somewhere where
everyone can see it often (for example, by the kitchen table).

DRAW A WHEEL OF FORTUNE

  1. Draw a wheel divided into segments, much like what you would do with a pizza.
  2. On each segment, write important categories in life: Family, Friends,School, etc.
  3. For each category, write out goals your kids would like to accomplish in a set period of time.

CREATE A VISION BOARD

  1. Cut out pictures of hopes and dreams.
  2. Paste onto poster board and decorate.
  3. Put your vision board somewhere you can see it.

PLAY 3 STARS AND A WISH

  1. Have your child come up with 3 “Stars,” or things they already do well.
  2. Talk to your child about how they became so good at these “Stars.”
  3. Next, have your child come up with a “Wish.” The “Wish” is something that your child needs or wants to work on (a goal).
  4. Ask your child what they can do to help make their wish come true.

ASK FUN QUESTIONS

  1. Ask, What is your biggest dream? If you had a superpower, how would you use it?
  2. Discuss that they can take their fate into their own hands by making a plan to achieve their hopes, goals, and dreams.
